Rocky Mountain Popcorn

I’ve been a popcorn addict since I was a little girl. I appreciate popcorn even more after my pregnancy because it was one of the few snacks I could have that wouldn’t increase my blood sugar while I had Gestational Diabetes. Popcorn is also low in carbohydrates. Now I look at popcorn as a healthy snack alternative. I got the opportunity to review a little popcorn company making a huge impact in the snack world known as Rocky Mountain Popcorn.

Rocky Mountain Popcorn

The Rocky Mountain Popcorn Company started 20 years ago in the Denver area. My parents, who lived in Colorado at the time, use to enjoy Rocky Mountain Popcorn locally. Now I get to carry on the tradition. Rocky Mountain Popcorn takes pride in their gluten & nut free, all-natural popcorn.  They take so much pride in this they have the following statement on the back of their Grip N’ Pour snack packages.

“Big, fresh, flavorful kernels delicately flavored with REAL ingredients. Not smothered with pretentious artificial flavoring. One Bite and you’ll remember what popcorn is supposed to be.”

Rocky Mountain Popcorn is hot air popped using moist kernels. Instead of drowning their popcorn with their flavors, they are seasoned to perfection. I also recommend reading this great article from Rocky Mountain Popcorn which explains WHY you should eat popcorn. You might be shocked to learn how good popcorn really is for you.

Rocky Mountain Popcorn has 8 different flavors that will please your taste buds: Naked, Butter, Jalapeno, Caramel, Cinnamon Sugar, White Cheddar, Kettle, and Southwest Cheddar. Rocky Mountain Popcorn let me sample all 8 flavors.  I recruited my parents, and my husband to help me sample. My parents stated it tastes exactly like the popcorn they got from Rocky Mountain Popcorn from years ago. My husband is contemplating how soon I get can more Rocky Mountain Popcorn. I saved enough for my stepson to try when we get him next but I’m sure he’ll love it as much as us.  Here are my thoughts on each flavor:

Naked: Popcorn in all of it’s glory with a little bit of salt. You can taste the quality of Rocky Mountain’s Popcorn Kernels. Puffy, light, and full of delight.

Butter: Buttered popcorn is a favorite for movies. I thought I was eating movie theatre popcorn without the grease. I also appreciate I can still taste the popcorn.

Jalapeno: This was my husband’s favorite. Jalapeno has a right amount of heat and a great jalapeno flavor. Jalapeno is a flavor that takes skill to perfect. Most jalapeno flavors you get only all heat or all jalapeno.

Caramel – Caramel is the first caramel popcorn I have ever tasted that wasn’t too sweet, and very tough to eat. Caramel popcorn is a flavor I didn’t enjoy, but Rocky Mountain Popcorn’s Caramel has made me a fan.

Cinnamon Sugar – My personal favorite out of all eight flavor. Have any of you tried cinnamon sugar fried tortillas? Rocky Mountain Popcorn’s Cinnamon Sugar tasted just like them.

White Cheddar – Cheddar was another not-so-favorite version of popcorn of mine because the popcorn I have tasted prior to reviewing Rocky Mountain Popcorn was way too salty.  White Cheddar also follows the same theme of flavor without being overbearing.

Kettle - Sweet meets Salty in a pleasant way. Kettle was my second personal favorite.

Southwest Cheddar – Southwest Cheddar is cheese with zest and a hint of lime. Southwest Cheddar was a very intriguing flavor.  I can’t quite put my finger on it, but the popcorn was delicious either way.
