There’s something to be said about jewelry. Jewelry can be worn as a fashion statement, a symbol of commitment, and a way to express your personality. But did you know jewelry can be used to tell a story? Meet Origami Owl.
Origami Owl was started by a 16 year old girl at the age of 14 as a way to earn money to buy a car for her 16th birthday. The concept is simple. You create a a locket with charms that represent you and tell your story. What isn’t there to love about the concept? There are 5 steps in creating your locket.
Step 1: Charms. Choose charms that represent you.
Step 2: Lockets. This is the locket your charms and plate(s) go.
Step 3: Chains. There are 17 gorgeous chains to choose from.
Step 4: Plates. Plates add personality to your locket. You get to choose between small, medium, and large plates.
Step 5: Dangles. Add a beautiful dangle to go with your locket.
Leslie Bradley, Independent Designer, sent me a custom made locket. She wanted to make it a surprise so she asked a little bit about me. I didn’t have any choice in my locket, but I am in love with the final result.
Here’s what each charm means to me.
Music Note: is for my love of music. Music has been a part of my life and I want to continue the tradition with Leo.
Cupcake: is for my love of cupcakes. I may not be the best cupcake baker, but I love eating them.
Clear Puffy Heart: is for my love of my family.
Birthstones: There is a birthstone for my husband, Leo, and myself.
Survivor Plate: Being a tornado survivor is part of own story.
I have gotten so many compliments from wearing this necklace when I am out. It means a lot to me to have a piece of jewelry that tells my story. I love it so much I am in the process of becoming an Origami Owl Independent Designer myself. I love the concept and the compassion Origami Owl has as a company to empower women. There are women from all walks of life that sell Origami Owl. Origami Owl Living Lockets make perfect gifts whether it’s for yourself or a loved one.

I’ve always loved these origami owl necklaces. They actually have gear charms and cameos that would be perfect for a victorian/steampunk necklace.
