I am very excited to share with the whole world that we are making the switch to cloth diapering.  I am so happy I can finally get started cloth diapering. Cloth diapering was one of my wishes before Leo was born. We would have started in the beginning but due to the recovering from the tornado (we lost our washer & dryer) we just never got around to it. Finally at 6 months of age I am proud to welcome my baby to the fluff club.

Alva Baby Black Cloth diaper

We decided to try Alva Baby first. I’ve gotten positive feedback from my friends who cloth diaper. The next diapers I want to purchase are Sun Baby diapers. I hope I can get my stash increased fairly quickly. I purchased 4 diapers and a wet bag so far. I’ll let you all know what I think of my Alva Baby diapers after I use them a couple times. I will admit these diapers are wonderful to touch and  the fluffy bum looks cute on my son.

Leo also had a follow up appointment from last week’s hospital visit which racked us up a $33,000 helicopter bill. Before you ask – we don’t have to pay it.
She prepped me when I asked about the reflux that he may not grow out of it until he’s 1. We’re going to keep him on the Prevacid, but switch back to the dis-solvable tablets after the compound version since our insurance won’t cover the compounded version. If the Prevacid stops working like the Nexium did the first sign of things going the way of what we dealt with for a month she wants us to come in. We’ll figure something out. Surgery is very unlikely since his reflux is only caused by the cardia sphincter still not fully developed. My pediatrician did stress to me his reflux may not begin to get better until he’s 1.

She agreed that only 4oz max a day of juice. She recommended cherry juice as a great alternative from apple. She also wanted Leo to try eating rice cereal or oatmeal at least once a day for the iron, and pureed meat once a day.

I had concerns with using Orajel because of the benzocaine because she recommended using a gel for teething if Tylenol or Motrin doesn’t work. She made me aware of an all natural product Orajel was recently released in tablet form. It’s free of dyes, alcohol, benzocaine, belladonna, and parabens. I went and bought it after the appointment. The active ingredients are Chamomilla, Coffee Cruda, and Calcarea phosphorica. They dissolve really nicely.

If nothing else happens we see her again when Leo’s 9 months old.

What a busy baby day indeed!
