I have an exciting announcement to make!
I am a summer 2013 ambassador for the Camp Wood YMCA. I will be writing a series of posts about Camp Wood YMCA from March until July. In return for writing about Camp Wood YMCA, I have been offered an amazing opportunity. We were invited to camp at Camp Wood YMCA during Memorial Day weekend. We’re also taking Ian and Leo with us making this trip our very first family vacation together!
Camp Wood YMCA has provided high quality camping programs since 1916. They hold a wide variety of summer camps for all ages. They’re also accredited by the American Camp Association meaning they have over 300 safety and quality standards they must adhere to. The staff at Camp Wood YMCA are screened, trained, and certified making them positive role models. There’s also a nurse at camp while camp is in session, and their camp doctor is local and on call if the doctor is ever needed.
Just two hours southwest of Kansas City, Kansas on Highway 50 and an hour and a half northeast of Wichita, Kansas, Camp Wood YMCA is in the heart of the Flint Hills. Camp Wood YMCA is situated on 630 acres of native prairie grassland encompassing a 19-acre lake, several wooded acres, and a breathtaking view of the Flint Hills. Kansas has its own rustic beauty, but nothing can compare to the Flint Hills.
One of the camps offered at Camp Wood YMCA is a family camp. These are offered twice a year. Once on Memorial Day Weekend, and the other on Labor Day weekend. Camp Wood YMCA describes the family camp as an all-inclusive family vacation. They offer a multitude of activities including canoeing, horseback riding, fishing, archery, arts & crafts, and more. They even provide food and lodging. It’s definitely a program for all ages. What I’m most excited about is sharing this camping experience with Leo and Ian. Leo is a very curious toddler, and I think he’ll really himself exploring nature. I think Ian will love doing whatever he can with his father.
In addition to writing about the upcoming summer camps at Camp Wood YMCA, I will write about my family’s experience during family camp. Maybe I’ll even try a new experience. I’ve always wanted to go horseback riding. Maybe this will be my chance!
Camp Wood YMCA has opened their 2013 Summer Camp Registration. They also still have openings to attend either of their family camps. It’d be neat to meet one of my readers at Camp Wood YMCA. You can also keep up to date with Camp Wood YMCA on Twitter & Facebook.
