In the world of IT the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification is a great place to begin. You might have heard about A+ certification. A+ certification is different from CCENT in that A+ certification is more of a generic certification. The focus of A+ certification is technical support. The CCENT certification provides skills in networking. This is beyond setting up a wireless router. I understand basic networking. My husband has more in depth knowledge of networking and CISCO. If you do decide to get CCENT certification you need to pass the 640-822 ICND1 certification exam.
The Cisco exam has a time limit of 75 minutes and will contain between 40-50 questions covering items related to networking fundamentals, basic security and wireless features, IP addressing, connecting to a WAN, operating IOS devices, and configuring basic networks.
