When I told my husband there was such a thing as “healthy” ice cream I got one of the most puzzled looks I’ve ever seen from him. He’s not the only one who was both intrigued but skeptical at the same time. I got the same response from my intermediate family – especially my stepson. Why can’t ice cream be associated with healthy and good for you? Why can’t ice cream only contain all natural ingredients?
If you’ve been paying attention in the media you would know about the obesity epidemic. Yours truly is apart of the statistic. Do I like being there? Nope, and that’s why I’m personally making a change for healthier. Millions of Americans are being diagnosed with Diabetes, or developing allergies such as Lactose Intolerance and/or Gluten Sensitivity/Celiacs Disease each day. Thankfully Arctic Zero is here to help revolutionize the dessert world. They are a company on a mission: Create a solution in making ice cream consumable by all. Thus Artic Zero Frozen Desserts were born.
Arctic Zero Frozen Desserts are the first products I’ve ever heard of that are all natural, fat free, artificial flavor free, gluten free, diabetic friendly, low carb, contain protein, kosher, non genetically modified organisms, and less than 150 calories per pint. Phew, that’s a lot to list. I wish I knew about Artic Zero while I was pregnant. It would have made dealing with Gestational Diabetes a lot easier. I had a horrible sweet tooth while carrying Leo.
The lovely folks at Arctic Zero sent me each flavor, including a seasonal flavor, to sample. I can’t thank them enough for their generosity.
You won’t feel guilty if you decide to eat an entire pint. Each pint contains 150 calories or less making each 1/2 cup serving only 34-37 calories. Arctic Zero’s pints also contain 14 grams of whey protein making them a perfect substitute in your smoothies or shakes. Have you ever heard of Monk Fruit? Monk Fruit is the sweetest melon in the world but unlike sugar none of its sweetness has the negative & glycemic effects of regular sugar. Arctic Zero’s sweetner is a blend of Monk Fruit and organic cane sugar.
So what were my thoughts on this one-of-a-kind frozen dessert? I’m going to share with you my opinion and photos of each flavor.
Chocolate was the first flavor I sampled. The first thing I noticed was how creamy the texture was. It isn’t nearly as rich as regular ice cream. I’d say it’s a cross between frozen yogurt and gelato for the density. The chocolate flavor was sweet but not too overly sweet – almost a bit bittersweet.
I have had an addiction to chocolate & peanut butter the last month. I use chocolate & peanut with my shakes I make in the morning. When I saw Chocolate Peanut Butter I got very excited. When I took my first but I wasn’t expecting to taste more peanut butter than chocolate. The peanut butter had a very peanut-y taste. The consistency was still creamy but varied from Chocolate slightly. I think it’s because of the use of peanut butter. I will be using Chocolate Peanut Butter in my breakfast shakes rather than adding regular peanut butter since a half a cup of Chocolate Peanut Butter has less carbohydrates than a couple teaspoons of my favorite peanut butter.
Coffee was my least favorite only because I am rather picky on what flavor of coffee I enjoy. The texture was also creamy, but this particular flavor melted like butter in my mouth. If you’re a coffee addict this would be a great flavor for you.
Cookies and Cream was my absolute favorite out of all of the other wonderful flavors I tried. It was the perfect balance of cookies and cream. Cookies and Cream still has that same creamy consistency Arctic Zero pints have which enhanced the overall flavor. I need to make a confession: While I was writing this review I finished off the rest of my Cookies and Cream pint. I’ll be purchasing this flavor again.
Ever had a Girl Scout Cookie Thin Mint before? If you have then you’ll be in love with Mint Chocolate Cookie. If you haven’t had a Thin Mint try Mint Chocolate Cookie. The flavors are almost identical. Mint Chocolate Cookie is like eating a Thin Mint without as much guilt.
Pumpkin Spice is Arctic Zero’s seasonal flavor. It’s texture varies the most from the other flavors as it has the consistency of a creamy sorbet. Pumpkin Spice tastes more like spice infused pumpkin than spice infused pumpkin pie. If you’re a pumpkin lover like I am you’ll notice the difference between the two.
In most ice creams strawberry is a very light pink color. This isn’t the case with Arctic Zero’s Strawberry. The color is vibrant, and so is the flavor. It is jam packed with creamy strawberry flavor goodness. This is a great flavor for kids, and another flavor I would recommend using a substitute in a smoothie or shake.
Vanilla Maple is the most interesting flavor Arctic Zero has to offer. I never imagined maple and vanilla together. Doesn’t maple only go together with bacon? I’m kidding.. or am I? Vanilla Maple is a perfect blend of creamy vanilla and maple syrup. It isn’t as nearly sweet as I imagined the combination to be. Both satisfying, and refreshing you can’t go wrong with Vanilla Maple.
Arctic Zero has really outdone themselves. With the addition of their Frozen Dessert Bars I hope they continue to shake up the dessert world with desserts everyone can enjoy. I really hope the other frozen dessert companies are watching. Arctic Zero is paving the way to the future of frozen desserts.

YUM! You said the magic word gelato! I really want to try this. I am a grazer so I love the little pints of ice cream so I can just cruise by the fridge and have a bite or two.
I’m a pumpkin lover too! I love the color of the strawberry one! It’s pretty
Great review, thank you!
Wow such vibrant colors. Love it! I’m interested in that pumpkin one now.
For me, coffee and strawberry are my favorites – also, cookies and cream – the other chocolate flavors need to taste more like chocolate.
i so want to try this line!
hey there and thank you for your info – I have certainly picked up anything new from right here.
