It’s September which means it’s football season. My father has been glued to the TV Labor Day to watch college football. I think my son is going to be a football addict as well. He will sit with my dad and watch footfall with him. Myself? I’m not so much into college & professional football. I love high school football. My favorite memory during high school was playing in band during home football games. I was a percussionist and I loved every bit of it. You know.. now that I think about it if my son is excited to watch football as he is right now I guess I’ll need to brush up on football knowledge.
There is one aspect about football season I don’t need to brush up on. That aspect is the food. I don’t care if you hate or love football there is always room for the food football brings. Chicken wings, potato skins, chips & dip, onion rings, and fried foods are some of the football finger food staples. As delicious as these foods are, unfortunately they aren’t really the best to eat. For some of us there is so much time between now & the end of football season it might take us off track from our weight loss goals. I don’t know of anyone in my family who could put “healthy” and “delicious” in the same sentence when it comes to football party food. Actually I don’t know of any of my friends who could either. Healthier alternatives CAN be just as or more delicious than the “real thing.” You don’t need to give up flavor while towards your goals.
Here is a list of 20 healthy & delicious football finger foods. The recipes listed are much healthier alternatives to football food staples. I encourage you to try these recipes in your own family. You might surprise that football food lover in your family that football season doesn’t mean “throw your diet out the window” season.
